Varna Printers is popular among printers in and around Kerala and is situated in the heart of the Cochin city. They undoubtedly are one among the high quality printers in Southern India. Varna caters to various commercial printing requirements which include magazines, brochures, leaflets, posters, stickers, handouts, note-books, danglers and like.

Established in the year 1998, Varna started with a single-color press. In the year 2006, they expanded their horizon with a new multicolor press - Heidelberg Printmaster 74 four-colour press. In order to improve their productivity, Varna had been contemplating to have their prepress in-house. Within a short span, they installed a Heidelberg - Suprasetter S-74 thermal CtP with workflow software, raptor online processor and prepress interface software.

The driving force behind Varna is its proprietor, Mr. K. J. Thomas, a highly knowledgeable person with a foresight for investing in not only the latest but right technology.

On the recent installation of Heidelberg Suprasetter CtP, Mr. Thomas says, "With the addition of the Heidelberg Suprasetter 74 Thermal CtP along with prepress interface, we have successfully integrated our prepress with the press (Printmaster 74), hence increasing the overall productivity by further reducing turnaround times".

Mr. Thomas explains, "I am extremely pleased with the decision of opting for a Heidelberg CtP. Suprasetter performs fully to my satisfaction. Our operators are being trained by Heidelberg professionals at regular intervals. They help us understand the intricate concepts of their latest technology and operators are able to quickly implement the same in the day to day press room activity and have mastered quality printing."

When asked about the technical capabilities of Heidelberg Suprasetter CtP, he says:

"One of the unique features of Suprasetter is the 'temperature compensation' wherein temperature of all components relevant to imaging remains constant, so that the imaging of the printing plates always takes place under the same conditions. This is particularly beneficial during plate remake. We have the latest version wherein up-gradation is possible. With this, the speed of the output can be increased when the situation demands. Plus, the laser system in the Suprasetter offers not only outstanding quality but also a high level of reliability through IDS (Intelligent Diode system). Even in an event of one or several laser diode failures, production is not interrupted. Also, Heidelberg Suprasetter thermal CtP can process chemical-free or process-less thermal printing plates which have less impact on the environment."

Mr. Thomas concludes by saying, "When we invest huge amount of money in press, we should develop the infrastructure in other supporting areas of production chain as well, which are; prepress and finishing. This ensures quality at all levels and every production unit should be self reliant to satisfy print buyers. We have been following this and I feel this is what makes our business very successful."
